Barrington Youth Baseball and Softball

BYB&S - 2014 Full Time Travel Tryouts will take place in July. Exact Dates will be posted by May 21st.

Barrington Youth Baseball & Softball offers competitive travel opportunities for baseball and softball players. This portion of our program is called Barrington Travel.

Baseball full time travel is available for players u9 through u14. Softball full time travel is available for u12 and u14 players. Barrington Travel is only for residents of CUSD 220.

Tryouts for 2013 Full Time Travel Baseball Players will take place at Fields of Dreams on July 16th & 17th.

Tryouts for 2013 Full Time Travel Softball Players will take place July 9th & 10th at the Fields of Dreams.

Teams are formed by the end of July and most age groups have two teams.

Players must register to tryout. The registration for tryouts will open by June 30th at www.bybs.net.

Some teams start training in the Fall, most begin winter workouts in December or January.

BYB&S is excited to announce a relationship with Professional Baseball Instruction (PBI) and will be utilizing the new PBI headquarters in Lake Barrington for the majority of our training needs. 

In addition to the PBI instructors, Barrington Travel teams also work closely with the Barrington High School program with player and coach training for baseball and softball.

All players will be notified of their status whether they make a team or not. All 2013 Barrington Travel Rosters will be finalized in July with invited players receiving directions in July for how to secure your roster spot by registering for the 2013 experience. Those directions will arrive along with the initial invitation. A deadline will be provided for when invited families must complete the registration process. Those who miss the deadline will be removed from the roster so please pay close attention to the directions for accepting a roster spot when it arrives.

Team budgets vary based on the age group.  Most teams have a budget from $1,100 to $1,600.  Teams that make an out of state trip require an additional expense (Cooperstown, Omaha, etc). 

Barrington Youth Baseball & Softball has been serving our community for more than 60 years. Over time the program has grown with over 100 teams participating each year. While BYB&S continues to adapt to the changing needs of our participants the program remains focused on its original objective:

For travel softball -

Players born in 1998 and later are eligible for the u14 teams. Softball players born in 2000 and later are eligible for u12 teams.

For travel baseball -

Age 2013 Class
u9 - 3rd grade
u10 - 4th grade
u11 - 5th grade
u12 - 6th grade
u13 - 7th grade
u14 - 8th grade

Travel Baseball - an April 30th cutoff is used. For example, any 4th grader (in 4th grade on April 1 2013) who would turn 11 after April 30th would be eligible for the 10 year old team.
