House Softball

T-Ball (Kindergarten and Pre-K)

A perfect way to introduce your child to the fundamentals of the game. Players learn the foundation skills of the sport that prepare them for softball. Players are coached by volunteer parents and hit from a Tee throughout the season. The emphasis is on fun, instruction and equal participation. Teams participate in an 16 game instructional season in addition to practices scheduled by managers. Rosters and team assignments are loosely structured around the schools. Most games are played at Langendorf Park and Lines School. There are no standings or playoffs at this level just great instruction and plenty of fun.

Juniors (1st & 2nd Grade)

Team rosters are loosely built around the elementary schools as girls continue to learn the fundamentals of softball. Volunteer parent managers guide their teams through an 18 game schedule. Coaches do the majority of the pitching at this level to keep all players engaged in a fun and fast paced environment. There are no standings or playoffs at this level. Players attend an Evaluation Day. Games are played at Lines School, Langendorf Park and Fields of Dreams. **There is a play up option in this division.

Minors (3rd & 4th Grade)

Players are assigned to teams that are loosely built around the elementary schools and are introduced to pitching at this level as games include both player and coach pitch innings. There are no walks in this division so players learn how to hit and all teammates are engaged in the fast paced action. There are no regular season standings during the 18 game schedule. Players attend Evaluation Day. Teams compete in a post season playoff to determine the Minors division champs. **There is a play up option in this division.

Majors (5th,6th,7th Grade)

Players begin to play traditional fast pitch softball at this level, doing all of the pitching and learning to steal bases. Players attend an evaluation day in February and are placed on rosters by a draft run by volunteer managers. Teams compete in an 18 game schedule. Players attend Evaluation Day. There are no regular season standings and teams compete in a year end playoff to determine the Majors Champs.

Seniors (7th & 8th Grade)

Teams compete against other Barrington teams as well as teams from Palatine and Arlington Heights and are playing general high school softball rules. Players are drafted by volunteer Managers to teams that participate in an 12 game regular season followed by a round robin tournament and then a championship tournament.  Half of the games are played at Fields of Dreams and the other half at nearby communities.

Players ages 5 to 18 have the opportunity to participate in baseball and softball in a variety of levels including the most competitive year round travel program (Barrington Travel - see the description at the bottom of the page or go directly to the Barrington Travel tab on the website) for highly skilled players to recreational programming for players of all abilities (BYB&S House Baseball & Softball).

See the Barrington Travel Tab for more information on full time travel and Mustang programs for an advanced level of play and training program.

Spring Softball & Baseball

Barrington Youth Baseball & Softball offers programs for all players from ages 5 to 18.

The House League structure is grade based. The younger players (boys Kindergarten through 2nd grade and girls Kindergarten through 4th grade) are placed with classmates on teams built around their school.  Older players participate in divisions where players are drafted on to teams by coaches.

  • Practices begin the first week of April and the season ends in late June.
  • Most teams play between 16 to 18 games and the older divisions have a year-end playoff.
  • Players will be informed of their team roster before spring break.
  • Practices begin the first week of April. Game schedules are distributed by managers the first week of April.
  • Visit the REGISTRATION tab on the top of the page to sign up today, or use the link to the right.

BYB&S also offers an All Star program for House Players and a Full Time Travel Program.  For more information -please visit the league description tab on the left side of the homepage.

Spring Game & Practice Schedules??

There is not set day of the week of time of day that each team plays its games.  The 18  game schedule is spread over a variety of times so no one team has to play every game in the morning, afternoon, weekdays, etc. The randomness of the schedule hopefully reduces the numbers of conflicts with other activities so players are able to play soccer, basketball, etc without having too many conflicts. Most players will have a couple of games that conflict with another activity during the course of a season but with so many games that is never a problem. Just notify your coach in advance of the conflict and all is well.

The vast majority of games are played on the weekends.
Your manager will set your practice schedule.
The older the player - the more weekday games they have but usually no more than one weekday game per week even for the older players.

Fall Baseball and Softball

Fall Baseball and Softball

Join us for a great season of fun on the diamond with Fall Ball.

Fall Ball begins in late August after the start of the school year with a couple of practices or clinics for players.

Teams then play a weekly game schedule that begins in early September with game through October.

This is a great opportunity for players to have fun while continuing to work on their skills with their friends and neighbors.

Coaches will contact players with team assignments by August 26th.  See more details on our homepage under the headline section.
