Athletic Position- Balanced Bat Speed

There are many ways to stand as a hitter but all most include the basics to keep a player balanced and under control of their body.  A hitter should swing as fast as possible without losing their balance.

Start with your feet a little wider than your shoulders.

Knees should be slightly bent and the body should be tension free.

Elbows should be relaxed.

Bat angle should be more vertical than flat but a gentle lean towards the hitters back shoulder.

Hitters should establish where they will stand next to home plate and consistency be in this same place.  A good start is having the front foot even with the break of the plate.  The break is the cover of the plate that starts to angle towards the point facing the catcher.  Returning to the same place in the batters box will help establish consistency with your at bats and swings.

Hand Position before the pitch

Hands comfortably at the top of the back shoulder.

Head is steady, with both eyes on the pitcher.

Feet must be parallel.  Toes facing home plate.  Keep the outside of your front foot, facing the pitcher as long as possible!
