Barrington Youth Baseball & Softball offers competitive travel opportunities for baseball and softball players.  We are the feeder program for Barrington High School. 

We are hosting tryouts for additional travel softball teams this Fall for a full-time 12u team, a full-time 10u team, and a part-time 8u team.

These teams are in addition to the two Full-Time Travel teams we formed during the summer tryouts.

Tryouts for the 10u and 8u teams will take place in the morning on September 26th and October 3rd.  

The 12u tryout will take place on the morning of September 26th.

All interested players must register by September 23rd.  You can register for a specific session using the links to the right.

This portion of our program is called Barrington Travel and we are the feeder program for Barrington High School.  

BHS Coaches participate in a portion of our travel team training.

Softball full-time travel is available for u10 through u14 players and tryouts traditionally take place the week following July 4th.   We are hosting tryouts this Fall to add two teams for 2022.

Barrington Travel is only for residents of CUSD 220.  

Team formation is dependent on qualified interest.

Teams are formed by mid-October. Team formation is subject to change based on the number of qualified participants.

Most travel teams begin winter indoor workouts in December or January.  Most teams practice 2 to 3 times per week in the winter. 

BYB&S Travel teams have a comprehensive winter indoor training program that includes time with professional instructors. 

Barrington Travel teams work closely with the Barrington High School program with player and coach training for baseball and softball.

All players will be notified of their status whether they make a team or not. All 2022 Barrington Travel Rosters will be finalized by October 12th with invited players receiving directions for how to secure your roster spot by registering for the 2022 experience. Those directions will arrive along with the initial invitation. A deadline will be provided for when invited families must complete the registration process. Those who miss the deadline will be removed from the roster so please pay close attention to the directions for accepting a roster spot when it arrives.

Team budgets vary based on the age group.  Most teams have a budget from $1,600 to $2,200.  Teams that make an out-of-state trip require an additional expense.

Barrington Youth Baseball & Softball has been serving our community for more than 70 years. Over time the program has grown with nearly 100 teams participating each year. While BYB&S continues to adapt to the changing needs of our participants the program remains focused on its original objective:

8u Part-Time Travel Softball 

Tryouts for this team will take place on September 26th and October 3rd.

All interested players must register for the tryouts - link to the right. 

This is a part-time travel team, which means that players will be playing both the traditional house season and a part-time travel schedule. 

Players try out for this team in the fall over two sessions.   

The 8u part-time Fillies team will have a winter training schedule from January through March.  

The 8u part-time Fillies winter training will include approximately two indoor practices per week, from mid-January through March (beginning after winter break and ending prior to spring break).  Several of these training sessions will be with Barrington High School coaches.

The 8u Fillies players will also participate with the rest of their classmates in the 2022 House Season.   These specific 8u Fillies players will be on various house teams and play the traditional house schedule from April through late June. 

These 8u Fillies players will also have 2 to 3 practices each month that is just for the 8u  Fillies team members.  These practices will not conflict with the House schedule. Some practice dates will likely become games.

The 8u Fillies will also plan to play in 2 to 3 tournaments in July. 

The specific base fee will be determined by the final number of winter sessions scheduled, the final number of tournaments entered, etc.  The final base fee for this described experience should be between $950 and $1,150.  The fee includes the house registration fee, winter training, tournament fees, uniforms, practice space, etc.)

If a player is 10 years old or younger on 12/31/21, she is 10u eligible 

If a player is 12 years old or younger on 12/31/21, she is 12u eligible 

Please note that these Fall Tryouts are for additional teams to those we formed in the summer.  Players that accepted a roster spot in the summer, do not attend these tryouts.
