What is Barrington Travel:

• Barrington Youth Baseball & Softball offers competitive travel opportunities for baseball and softball players. 
• This portion of our program is called Barrington Travel and we are the feeder program for Barrington High School.  
• BHS Coaches participate in a portion of our travel team training.
• Teams are formed by late July
• Some teams start training in the Fall, most begin winter workouts in December or January. 
• Our Travel teams have a comprehensive winter indoor training program that includes time with professional instructors. 
• Barrington Travel teams work closely with the Barrington High School program with player and coach training for baseball and softball.
• Team budgets vary based on the age group.  Most teams have a budget from $1,800 to $2,800.  Teams that make an out-of-state trip require an additional expense (Cooperstown, Omaha, etc).  
• Barrington Youth Baseball & Softball has been serving our community for more than 70 years, and has grown with nearly 100 teams participating each year.
• While BYB&S continues to adapt to the changing needs of our participants the program remains focused on its original objective of teaching the game in a fun, competitive, and instructional atmosphere.
• We are focused on improving the ability of every player while enhancing the experience for every family to create a passion for the game that will last a lifetime.

Who is eligible for Barrington Travel:

• Baseball teams often have two teams at each age division from U9 to U14. 
• Softball traditionally has  one 14u, 12u, and 10u team, but depending on qualified interest we may host 9U, 11U, and 13U teams to support continued development at each age division.  NOTE:  If you have questions, please reach out to our Travel Softball Commissioner. 
• Barrington Travel is only for residents of CUSD 220.

What is the tryout process for Barrington Travel:

• Tryouts for 2025 teams will take place on July 9th and July 10th at the Fields of Dreams.  
• Team formation is dependent on qualified interest and is subject to change year-to-year based on numbers. 
• All players will be notified of their status whether they make a team or not.
• All 2025 Barrington Travel Rosters will be finalized by July 23rd with invited players receiving directions in early August for how to secure your roster spot by registering for the 2025 experience.
• Those directions will arrive along with the initial invitation. A deadline will be provided for when invited families must complete the registration process. Those who miss the deadline will be removed from the roster so please pay close attention to the directions for accepting a roster spot when it arrives.

2025 TRYOUTS DATES

• Tryouts for 2025 teams will take place on July 9th and July 10th at the Fields of Dreams.
• Players should attend BOTH tryout dates.  
• If you have a conflict and can attend only one session, you are still eligible to make a team. 

Baseball Tryout Schedule

U9-      11am to 1230pm

U10-   1pm to 230pm

U11-   9am to 1030am

U12-   12pm to 130pm

U13-   10am to 1130am

U14-   8am to 930am

Softball Tryout Schedule

10u/9u - 1215pm to 145pm

12u/11u-  1015am to 1145am

14u/13u-    815am to 945am

Players must register in order to participate in Travel tryouts.

Only residents within the boundaries of school district 220 are eligible for Barrington Travel teams.

Players should attend both days of tryouts.

There are no makeup sessions scheduled at this time. If any other dates are offered (RAIN DATES), the information will be posted here.

Players should dress as they would for a practice or game.

No shorts for baseball.

Players should bring a water bottle, glove, bat, and helmet.  We will have extra bats and helmets if needed.

Players will be notified of tryout results by July 23rd.

TRYOUT TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE - CHECK THIS SCHEDULE AGAIN AS WE APPROACH THE TRYOUT DATES

There are No Refunds for the registration fee.

TRAVEL AGES BY DIVISION:

Travel Baseball Ages -
Age 2024-25 Class
u9 - 3rd grade
u10 - 4th grade
u11 - 5th grade
u12 - 6th grade
u13 - 7th grade
u14 - 8th grade

Travel Baseball - a May 1st cutoff is used. For example, any 4th grader (in 4th grade on April 1, 2025) who would turn 11 after May 1st of 2025 would be eligible for the 10-year-old team (u10).

Travel Softball Ages -
If a player is 10 years old or younger on 12/31/24, she is 10u eligible 

If a player is 12 years old or younger on 12/31/24, she is 12u eligible 

If a player is 14 years old or younger on 12/31/24, she is 14u eligible
